Welcome to the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park.

We are a growing group of volunteers who love our beautiful backyard park. We clear trails, lead and join hikes, kayak and fish. We love the flora and fauna of this Rensselaer Plateau jewel.

Our work is supported by Membership dues and Member participation. We hope you will consider joining us, or simply making a donation. Follow the map below and come for a visit.

What’s New?!

Meet your new Board of Friends of GLSP:

We are grateful that five talented people have stepped up at the November Meeting, which determined that our Group will continue to serve the Park and the public in 2024 and beyond.

Here are the 2024 Board Members:
Greg, your new President;
Colton, new Vice President;
Justin, new Treasurer;
Jo-Lynn and Gabrielle, new Board Members;
Fran, as the Committee Leader of the Friends of Cherry Plain SP and the current PTNY Grant Contact, will remain on the board.

The rest of the current Board Members will step down at the end of 2023. Thank you so much for your years of services.

WE’LL BE CONTINUING OUR DRIVE TO EXPAND OUR ACTIVITIES, SERVICES, and VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE COMING YEAR!

It’s time again for our annual membership drive! As someone who makes regular use of our park, or simply enjoys that it’s there, we’d love to invite you to renew your membership. Your 2023 calendar year membership contributes to the following:

· Support of park activities

· Support for our volunteers during Winterfest, I Love My Parks Day, National Trails Day, etc..

· Volunteer coordination

· Development of member events & activities

While we encourage you to consider your “membership” primarily as a donation to the park--so we can provide breakfast for our trail volunteers, buy seeds and other supplies for developing a new flower bed around our Welcome Center, etc…—we also offer you the following member services:

· Advance registration for selected park events

· Member only events

· Regular events information

We are also planning on organizing or helping to organize regular events & activities this year: nature walks, hiking, biking, kayaking, summer movies under the stars. While we also hope to open these events to the public, you’ll hear about these events directly from us (and possibly avoid the new Meetup fees).

Our basic membership fees are a mere $10 for individuals; $15 for families; $5 for students/seniors (65+). You can offer greater support by becoming a supporting ($35) or sponsoring member ($100). We also welcome organizational members at a basic rate of $50/year, and Institutional Sponsor ($250). Please use this link to join/renew.

Finally, we’re always interested in having more volunteers. If you’re interested in any of the following, please let us know by emailing us at friendsofgraftonlakesstatepark@gmail.com:

· Becoming a park docent

· Helping build a new garden around the Welcome Center

· Doing trails work/trail ambassadors

· Volunteering at events

· Friends board members (committees)/Help Friends group to organize events

Best wishes,
Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park
