NEWS from the Friends and Partners

Friends Fall Festival

We’re excited that you’re interested in attending our annual members’ picnic, and representing your organization at the event. It’s in part a new tradition, but also an opportunity for everyone to meet one another, and for our general members to get to learn more about your group.

The schedule of events will be as follows:

Friends of Grafton Lake State Park

Annual Member & Member Organizations Picnic and Hike

Saturday, September 29th, 2018

(Rain date: Sun. 9/30)

1130am – 430pm

@ the new Welcome Center

11am                    Set-up

1130am               Welcome & tour of the new welcome center

12-130pm            Pot Luck

130-430pm         Hike to Fire Tower Trail

430-530pm         Clean-up as needed; out of the park by 530pm

RSVP (attendance list): By special arrangement with the Park, the members of our member organizations can get into the park for free for the purposes of this event! Please just send us a list of the members who will be attending by Friday, September 21st. Those on the list will be permitted to enter the park for free.

In future years, we’re thinking of creating something more elaborate, such as a fall festival similar to Winterfest that will provide everyone with an opportunity for formal tabling. For the picnic, please just use this as an opportunity to circulate information about your group by bringing flyers and other material that you can distribute during the picnic. Tables will be made available to place material for people to review and pick up.

If you have any questions, you can contact Atsushi Akera (, as the event coordinator for this event, or Dorothy Surprise (, as the organizational members liaison.
